Today is dedicated to Bagan- the historic destination of over 3,000 acient temples and pagodas.
Warm-up your 3rd day with a meditation session at Observation Lounge, before enjoying different activities. You may opt for “Introduction to Bagan” to learn about temples and history, or choose to discover local food and markets with “ A Day in the Life”, or go for a more active option with either guided or independent “Bagan by Bicycle” tour. Near Old Bagan is home to Belmond’s private jetty, where you can have a stroll through, and then visit the Belmond Free Clinic before lunch time.
Afternoon is spent on temples and pagodas, first on Ananda- one of the most magnificent temples in Bagan, then a pagoda using torchlight, before enjoying spectacular sunset.
A starry dinner on the Observation Deck at Road to Mandaly Grill, with a traditional marionette performance will make your memory day.
The signature activity of today, which serves as your bonus treatment, is a hot-air balloon flight over the pagodas to enjoy the spectacular view of sunrise. The service comes with an additional price and booking in advance.
The rest of the day is taken up by a trip to Mt Popa. 2 hours away from Bagan and considered home to the 37 Nat spirits, this scared mountain is a must-see. There is a wide range of activities for you to experience: visit the plantation to learn about sweet jaggery production, 777-step mountain climbing, or discover the below village. (Jan - Mar): We embark the cruise ship at the riverside town of Myin Mu, located 30 miles away from Mandalay to the South. Early arrived guests can meet the guide in Shwe Kyet Yet Village take a tour around the Sagaing Hills before our trip on the Belmond Road to Mandalay.
We spend the day onboard, enjoying the luxuries onboard such as relaxing nearby the pool, or trying out spa treatment. Then we have lunch onboard.
For the remaining time, we can join in an intriguing discussion with our doctor, try out fortune telling with our astrologist, or learn how to wear longyi. In the afternoon, we enjoy tea in the cruiser’s Burmese Tea Shop.
In the evening, remember to wear longyi and take part in the amusing cocktail party, then have excellent dinner.

In the early morning, we can practice yoga or meditation on deck before our arrival at Bagan.
We have quite a selection of choices: “Introduction to Bagan” in which we discover the temples and their history, “A Day in the Life” in which we learn about local culture, food, and markets, or “Bagan by Bicycle” which is best-suit for adventurous travelers.
We will also take a trip to a small village which is home of Belmond’s private pier near Old Bagan. If we want to, we can visit Belmond’s free clinic where our doctor treat local patients.
In the afternoon, we take a trip to one of the most revered temples in Bagan – Ananda. Then we get to discover a rarely-visited temple with torchlight. And to end the day, we enjoy the astonishing sunset scenery across Bagan’s plain.
We will have dinner under the sky on the Observation Deck, and have a traditional marionette show.

We embark on the cruise ship at Taung Be Village near Bagan.
We have lunch on cruise then take a trip to Ananda Temple which is one of the most revered temples in Bagan. We move on and discover a less-known temple with torchlight.
Later on, we enjoy the sunset over Bagan’s plain, then take part in a special candle lighting ceremony at a small temple near our pier.
In the evening, we have dinner under the sky on the Observation Deck.

As we cruise towards Mandalay, there are many activities onboard to enjoy from culture talk to spa treatment, or relaxing by the pool on the Observation Deck, or exercising in the gym, or tasting treats in our Burmese Tea Shop. We also have section where we learn to wear traditional Burmese longyi.
In the evening, we have dinner with a wide range of choices from Asian to Western dishes, and try out the house wines or our international wine list.
(Jan - Mar): In the morning, we have several choices for our excursion: taking a tour at a temple during sunrise, visiting a project in local commune, touring around Old Bagan via bicycle or horse-cart. We can also choose a Hot Air Balloon flight with additional supplement.
Next, we get onboard and continue our journey. While cruising, we have variety of activities on board for our amusement: relaxing by the pool on the Observation Deck, exercising in the gym, trying local treats in Burmese Tea Shop, and checking out art exhibition by a local artist.
In the evening, we have wearing longyi section for a cocktail party before having dinner with a selection of Western and Asian dishes on cruise.

(Sep - Jan): In the morning, we keep cruising while enjoying onboard activities like yoga, meditation, cooking presentation, and chatting with our doctor.
As we reach Mingun, there are two touring options: Exploring the historical locations or taking a tour around the rural village and interacting with local villagers.
In the evening, wear longyi and join with us in the Longyi Cocktail Party on the Observation Deck.
(Jan - Mar): In the morning, we reach the lovely town of Myin Mu on the riverside, located 30 miles awat from Mandalay to the South. We will discover the town via trishaw, including busy market, traditional Burmese slipper workshop, and a family-owned business of bamboo weaving.
We then get back to the ship and have lunch. After that, we take a trip to Alacapa, a charming farming village, as we explore the town and understand more about the locals. There are many crops grown here, from corn, sesame, to fava beans and chili peppers.
We return to the cruiser and have dinner, then enjoy a traditional entertainment event.

We will reach Mandalay after a short sail. Who wake up early can take part in the Buddhist alms giving ceremony on land.
On this day, we have two options: “Highlights of Mandalay” involving visits the essential historical locations throughout the city, including the famous Kuthodaw Pagoda and the majestic Shwenandaw Golden Monastery; or “Mandalay Arts and Shopping” involving the city’s well-known traditional craftsmanship, typically marble, bronze, woodcarving, and silk.
After the tour, we return to the cruise ship at Shwe Kyet Yet village and have lunch. After that, we come to the living center of Buddhism faithful in Burma – Sagaing Hills.
Enjoy the champagne cocktail during the sunset, overlooking the fascinating U Bein Bridge. We have a farewell dinner on cruise then join in traditional entertainment event.

BELMOND ROAD TO MANDALAY POLICY
1. Alteration of schedule and cruise itinerary
In spite of the fact that we will do our best to assure that the announced itinerary is followed at the strictest possible level, occasionally, we might have to alter or delay the schedules and itineraries in the last minute due to the uncertainty of local weather and river conditions.
2. Deposit
2.1. For booking with less than 06 cabins
If you book your cabins more than 65 days in advance of the departure date, you are required to deposit 30% of the total charge at the booking time. The remaining amount must be paid within 65 days before the departure date.
For the booking made less than 65 days prior to departure date, you are required to make full payment of the fare within 48 hours.
2.2. For booking from 06 cabins and more
If you book your cabins more than 95 days in advance of the departure date, you are required to deposit 30% of the total charge at the booking time. The remaining amount must be paid within 65 days before the departure date.
If you book your cabins between 94 and 65 days in advance of the departure date, you are required to deposit 50% of the total charge at the booking time. The remaining amount must be paid within 65 days before the departure date.
If you book your cabins less than 65 days in advance of the departure date, you are required to make full payment of the fare within 48 hours.
3. Cancellation by us
Under the circumstance that a cruise cannot be operated for passengers with confirm bookings or departures because the minimum number of passengers for the ship to sail is not satisfied, Belmond Road to Mandalay has the rights to call off the cruise. We will notify the passengers with confirmed booking about the cancellation 50 days in advance. A substitute cruise ship (with parallel itinerary and ship type) or an alternative departure date will be proposed depending on its availability. If the passengers do not agree with the alternative ship or departure, we will make full refund of the deposit amounts upon the demand of the passengers.
4. Cancellation by Customer
If you or any other members of your party want to cancel your booking, you must inform us via fax or email. E-mail cancellation or booking amendments are only effective once re-confirmed by us.
4.1. That person(s) may transfer their place to someone else (introduced by you) and in respect of whom the Lead Passenger will need to give the confirmations and representations not less than 30 days before departure and you pay an amendment fee in accordance with the table below and meet all costs and charges incurred by us and/or incurred or imposed by any of our suppliers.

4.2. If you or other members could not transfer place to someone else. The following cancellation fee will be applied:
Cancellations made 65 days or more before departure: 20% charge of total price
Cancellations made 64 to 31 days prior to departure: 35% charge of total price
Cancellations made 29 to 10 days prior to departure: 75% charge of total price
Cancellations made less than 10 days prior to departure or no show: 100% charge of total price
*In the event of cancellations, wire fees and credit card commissions will be deducted when calculating refunds.
5. Force Majeure
Unless there are points clearly stated in this policy, we will bear no responsibility of making compensation for you if the fulfillment of our obligations in the contract is influenced by unpredictable or unavoidable events that out of the control of us or the supplier(s). These events include, but is not limited to, war, threat of war, civil conflict, terrorist activity and its consequences or the threat of such activity, riot, the act of any government or other national or local authority including port or river authorities, industrial dispute, lock closure, natural or nuclear disaster, fire, chemical or biological disaster, adverse weather, sea, air, ice and river conditions and all similar events.
6. Insurance
We highly recommend that travelers have their trip cancellation covered. We also advise the guests to purchase insurance for medical matters, luggage loss and delay of the trip in case of unfavorable situations. Belmond Road to Mandalay will not be liable for the loss of personal belongings.
7. Dietary needs
If the guests have exceptional dietary needs, they should contact with us 30 days in advance of the departure. The cruise will exert all possible efforts to satisfy the exceptional dietary needs and demands depending on the availability of the goods.
